Oh, what a tangled and pathetic web they weave when they practice to deceive.

Here’s White House press secretary Josh Earnest, hard at work on Twitter tonight, trying to spin the Washington Post’s exclusive on the administration’s cover-up and politicizing of the DHS Inspector General’s office to whitewash one of its aide’s involvement in the Cartagena/Secret Service hooker scandal.

Supposed WaPo "exclusive" was previously reported by AP, CBS, ABC, Politico, The Hill & others – 2 years ago. http://t.co/dk9qV0TbJK

Old news? Duuuuuuude. You’re channeling Tommy “Benghazi was, like, two years old” Vietor.

Twitter users of all political stripes LOL’ed at the flackery and hackery. But really, Earnest deserves some pity. Spin machine operatives take on myriad occupational hazards of self-harm. This has gotta hurt.

.@PressSec You’re doing a good job. Being a snide prick is totally the way to handle situations like this.

Hey, did you ever hire any whores, or has your position always relegated you to just being one? @PressSec

@PressSec @Schultz44 Sorry guys, those 2 stories are nothing alike. One is hint of what the other might contain. A faint hint.

Here we go with the "old news" spin. Why was the story covered up by the admin? THAT'S a new story. @PressSec @exjon

@PressSec Including the bit about Dach re-upping as the President's policy adviser to the Office of Global Women's Studies? #cannotmakeitup

Except for the part where you guys gave the dude a full time job afterwards. @PressSec https://t.co/nSf2B8hf5A

@PressSec What about your gaffes?

— ComfortablySmug (@ComfortablySmug) October 9, 2014

@sidi88 @PressSec Denials, lots of "may" and "mights" in 2012. Confirmed tonight that they were involved. And oh yeah, dude got PROMOTED

.@PressSec Something tells me you wouldn't have commented were it a smaller, as you claim, story.

Get your popcorn ready!

@PressSec Enjoy the press briefing tomorrow!
