Shelly Yost, a cashier at a Kroger store in Ohio, was busy at work when she encountered something rather strange.

An elderly woman came through her line with a whopping $2,000 worth of iTunes gift cards. Yost, who was understandably curious about the purchase, asked the woman why she was buying so many gift cards. That’s when the woman told her she had gotten a phone call saying her granddaughter was in jail with a broken nose and police were demanding them as bail…


There are a lot of scams out there that take advantage of the elderly and vulnerable. Thankfully, this kindhearted cashier spoke out when she knew something wasn’t right.
